The Wise Old Woman and the Devil
Once upon a time, in a small Polish village, there lived a wise old woman known for her wisdom and kindness. One day, the Devil, disguised as a handsome young man, came to the village to tempt the people. He offered them riches and power in exchange for their souls.
The Devil approached the wise old woman and offered her a deal. He promised her untold wealth and a life of luxury if she would give him her soul. The old woman listened patiently and then asked the Devil a question. "If I give you my soul," she said, "will you answer any question I ask?"
The Devil, eager to make the deal, agreed. The old woman then asked him, "How many grains of sand are there on the beach?"
The Devil was stumped. He knew that it was impossible to count the grains of sand on the beach. He realized that he had been tricked by the wise old woman. In a fit of anger, he vanished, leaving the old woman unharmed.
From that day on, the wise old woman was known throughout the village for her wisdom and her ability to outsmart even the Devil himself.
