Seed Savers

Understand the importance of seeds and explore ways to preserve them.

Seed Collection: 

Collect seeds from different plants. Label and research each type.

Seed Preservation:

Sort the Seeds:

Collect seeds and categorize them based on their size, shape, and color.

Dry the Seeds:

Spread the seeds on a tray or paper towel and let them dry completely. Ensure they are like crispy crackers before moving on.

Store in Envelopes:

Carefully place the dried seeds in labeled envelopes. This helps them rest comfortably until it's their time to grow.

Seed Journal: 

Seed Name:

Write down the name of the seed you are preserving.

Date Collected:

Record the date when you collected the seeds.

Source:

Note where you obtained the seeds, whether from your garden, a friend, or elsewhere.

Description:

Provide a brief description of the seed's appearance, including size, color, and any unique features.

Growing Conditions:

Record the conditions necessary for the seed to grow, such as sunlight, water, and soil preferences.

Date Planted:

Document the date you plant the seeds.

Observations:

Keep a section to note any changes or observations as the seed begins to grow.

Germination Period:

Record the time it takes for the seed to sprout and begin growing.

Notes:

Add any additional notes or thoughts about your experience with each seed.

Draw a table in your notebook as shown below and write the data as per the Row 2.
