  Coorg is located midway between Mysore and Mangalore. It is known for its rolling hills, evergreen rainforests, coffee plantations, and spice gardens.


2. What makes the people of Coorg unique in their appearance and traditions?

  The people of Coorg are possibly of Greek or Arabic descent. Their martial traditions, distinct marriage and religious rites, and the traditional long black coat, *kuppia*, make them unique.


3. Describe the hospitality and bravery associated with the people of Coorg.

  Coorgi homes have a tradition of hospitality, with numerous tales of valour related to their sons and fathers. The Coorg Regiment is highly decorated, and Coorgis are the only people in India allowed to carry firearms without a licence.

  The river Kaveri provides water to the hills and forests of Coorg. It is home to the mahaseer fish, and various animals like kingfishers, squirrels, langurs, and elephants interact with the river.
