Bio-sketch of Nelson Mandela 

Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, into the Royal family of South Africa. He overcame a challenging start. He got the English name Nelson from his teacher. He pursued education at local Mission schools, Beaufort Methodist College, and later studied law at the University of Witwatersrand through the African National Congress. Mandela's life was marked by tireless efforts for the rights of black South Africans. In 1944, he led peaceful protests and armed resistance. Despite being convicted and imprisoned for 27 years, he emerged to be elected as the first black President of South Africa in 1994. After retiring from politics in 1999, he remained dedicated to world peace until his passing at the age of 95 in 2013. His unwavering commitment earned him the Bharat Ratna in 1990 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
