Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They provide information about how, when, where, or to what extent something happens.

Types of Adverbs

  1. Manner Adverbs:

  2. Time Adverbs:

    • Indicate when something happens
      • Examples: now, then, soon, later, early, yesterday, today, tomorrow, always, never
  3. Place Adverbs:

    • Show where something happens
      • Examples: here, there, everywhere, nowhere, inside, outside, above, below
  4. Degree Adverbs:

    • Modify the degree or intensity of an adjective or adverb
      • Examples: very, too, quite, extremely, rather, somewhat
  5. Frequency Adverbs:

    • Indicate how often something happens
      • Examples: always, often, sometimes, usually, seldom, never
